Orcham lithophanies are unique, one-off creations that combine light and transparency, quality design and modern technology.
Par leur polyvalence et leur esthétique sur mesure, ces luminaires sont très adaptés aux architectes et décorateurs d’intérieurs voulant donner une touche très personnelle à leur projets de toutes tailles.
Principle: the thicker the material, the less light it lets through, creating a dark area; the thinner the material, the more light it lets through, creating a light area. This lithophanie process was invented 200 years ago, and was most often carried out on flat surfaces. More historical details on dedicated Wikipedia page.
Originellement en porcelaine, couteux mais surtout extrêmement fragile, cette technique est remise au gout du jour par l’impression 3D et la réalisation en plastique beaucoup plus solide.
Ce qui rend la lithophanie unique et esthétiquement très différente d’une photo en noir et blanc, est le relief profond (en tout cas sur les lithophanies Orcham) qui procure une douceur des contours, un dégradé des ombres très progressif tout en ayant un rendu des details fins et un effet visuel 3D variable selon le point de vue.

Orcham lithophanies are made up of two elements (in addition to the packaging, Orcham cotton bag, box and instructions - depending on the model- ):
The lithophanie cylinder itself.
The various models are shown in detail in the gallery below. All Orcham cylinders can be combined with all Orcham brackets.
The support and its light source:
- Wireless stand for on-the-go or summer use. The LED source is rechargeable via USB, like a cell phone, and offers a choice of RGB colors. The stand is designed to hold our LED source, but can also hold most wireless sources on the market, such as waterproof sources.
